Wellington Road Shiraz Cabernet
Wine
Bleasdale Wellington Road Shiraz Cabernet is a traditional Langhorne Creek blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, drawn from both the estate vineyard and specialist Langhorne Creek growers.
Wellington Road was the original name for Langhorne Creek Road, where Bleasdale has been a fixture since 1850. It connects Langhorne Creek with the River Murray crossing.
The Shiraz fruit is destemmed but left as whole berries, while the Cabernet is destemmed and crushed for cold soaking. The fruit is open fermented with pump overs up to four times daily, decreasing towards the end of the ferment.
After 8-12 days on skins the wine is drained, pressed and settled. It is then racked to new and seasoned French oak puncheons for malolactic fermentation and maturation.
Deep red, Bleasdale Wellington Road Shiraz Cabernet is medium bodied with abundant black fruit flavours. Tannins and oak shape its structure and length. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
